Up your game with RutgerSports this summer.

Our summer 2017 field hockey camp in Westport, Connecticut, is open to all middle- and high-school players who want to improve their game alongside our elite, internationally trained coaching staff. We’ll help take your game up a notch with an intensive curriculum, which includes expert-level drills, skills training, intense circuits, and more.

Who’s coaching?

At this location, Coach Rutger Wiese and Coach Ian Tapsall collaborate on a training program emphasizing teamwork and strategies for each of the 11 positions on the field.

Rutger Wiese has extensively coached with youth, collegiate, and national teams in the United States and the Netherlands for more than two decades, and his playing career includes six major championships in Europe. Wiese is the head coach of the Under-21 Men’s Junior National Team.

Ian Tapsall is the head coach at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut. In 2008, he co-founded FC United FHC, and holds a Level 2 USFHA coaching certification. He played for Hounslow and Southgate Hockey clubs in the United Kingdom, winning two European Club Championships. He also captained the Greenwich, Connecticut, men’s team to four U.S. National Club championships.

Why should I sign up?

With numerous coaches and more than 200 balls on the field, all players receive a lot of individualized feedback on how to improve their skills, both technically and tactically. We keep a close watch on every athlete, and deliver constructive feedback in real time. We happen to think the music is pretty great, too.

What’s the camp like?

We do lots of drills and circuits in a high-performance setting, and on the last day of camp, we cap it all off with a team-based tournament that puts your skills to the test.

This camp runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Where is it hosted?

We’ll play on the turf at Staples High School, located in Westport, Connecticut, just 30 miles from New Haven and 13 miles from Stamford.
